Shafiq Syed won a National Award and starred in Oscar-nominated 'Salaam Bombay!' as a child, discovered on Mumbai's streets. Despite early success and meeting the President, acting offers dried up. He returned to Bangalore, later appearing only in 'Patang', and eventually became an auto-rickshaw driver to support his family.
