Veteran lyricist Sameer Anjaan has criticised the current state of Bollywood music, calling Gen-Z songs "jarring noise." In a recent interaction, he said excessive sound is overpowering meaningful lyrics, affecting both songs and films. He stressed that music plays a key role in a film’s success and warned that unless balance is restored between melody and lyrics, the soul of Hindi film music will continue to fade.
